Rainbow Salute Activist Networking Space

Where: Riocentro Conference Center, Rio de Janeiro
A Rainbow Salute Foundation event during the AIDS 2026 conference
A place where connections begin
This Networking Space was created to offer something different from the conference programme. Amid the energy of AIDS 2026, it provided a welcoming place where activists could pause, meet peers, exchange experiences, and build relationships across organisations, communities, and borders.
Throughout the conference, visitors joined us for informal conversations, themed networking sessions, and moments of reflection. Some arrived with practical questions, others simply wanted to meet people who understood the realities of activism. Every conversation, whether planned or spontaneous, contributed to a stronger sense of community.
Alongside opportunities to connect, the space invited visitors to remember activists we have lost, celebrate those who inspire us, and explore how supporting one another strengthens the movements we are all part of.
More than a physical space, the Networking Space reflected Rainbow Salute Foundation’s belief that activists are strongest when they are connected, recognised, supported and celebrated.

Every Connection Matters
Every movement begins with people. Every movement grows through connection.
Around the world, activists dedicate themselves to advancing LGBTQIA+ rights and HIV/AIDS causes. They build communities, challenge inequality, support one another, and create lasting change. Yet many do this work feeling isolated, with few opportunities to connect with peers who truly understand their experiences.
The Rainbow Salute Activist Networking Space exists to change that, even if only for a moment. Every conversation has the potential to spark a new idea, inspire a collaboration, or remind someone they are not alone. Because every connection strengthens the people behind the movement, and stronger people build stronger movements.
